  • Brief for Resource Mobilization on Eyezone Platform The conflict in the northern part of Ethiopia has caused unparalleled damage to public infrastructure and institutions. The health sector is no exception to this, several public and private health institutions have been damaged by the conflict, resulting in a huge setback to the overall health system affecting millions of our people who were served by those facilities. To respond to this catastrophe, the ministry of health has been responding through its incident management system and is implementing an emergency response plan with a phased health facility restoration plan. The ministry in collaboration with the regional health bureaus, developments partners, Ethiopian community in the diaspora and friends of Ethiopia have managed to reinitiate basic and life saving services in several of the damaged health facilities. We have so far mobilized more than five hundred twelve million (512,516,684.00) Ethiopian birr worth of equipment and cash from the diaspora community and friends of Ethiopia for the restoration of the affected health facilities By putting these resources to the health facility restoration effort, the ministry along with regional health bureaus, development partners and Ethiopian diaspora community have managed to restore considerable amount of health centers and hospitals as depicted in the breakdown below. So far, the facility restoration activity has yielded a positive outcome where some of the affected health facilities have resumed service at a minimal capacity for which we sincerely acknowledge the support of all who are contributing. However, restoring the facilities to their full potential is a difficult undertaking that requires the continued concerted effort of the government, Ethiopians, Ethiopian descendants, partners and friends of Ethiopia. To fulfill this endeavor, the ministry together with the Ethiopian diaspora service and CHAPA Financial Technologies Share Company has triggered an additional cause, on the Eyezon platform, to mobilize financial resources for the restoration effort. Therefore, in pursuit of this cause, we kindly urge Ethiopians at home and abroad to contribute their part to fully restore and build back better the health system. As part of the effort to meet the financial gap required to restore the affected health facilities and rehabilitate the health system, the Ministry has set a target of mobilizing at least 10 million USD using this platform. Therefore, we humbly request the generous support of Ethiopians, Ethiopian descendants, and friends of Ethiopia in filling the gap. The Ministry of Health is immensely grateful and deeply appreciates your support!!
